Service and Asset Manager

SAP Service and Asset Manager is an intuitive mobile app running in the cloud that helps you maintain sustainable, risk-resilient operations by enabling field technicians to access, capture, and work with asset and operational data on their devices.

In this project, we will be dissecting SAM to understand it’s core purpose while also finding any issues along the way whilst speaking with stakeholders and customers.

Pain points

Paint point 1:
No clear central navigation for users to exit to. This forces users who are to deep within the app to press the back button many times to get back to the home page.
Pain point 2: Lack of color coded information: Because of the heavy amount of text throughout each page, users get confused on the information they are seeing because of an excessive amount of cognitive load. Paint point 3: Lack of feedback when browsing through the app makes users feel less confident that they are on the right page are doing the right function.

Perceptual Analysis

SAP’s Service and Asset Manager app contains many advanced features, such as an implemented Augmented Reality feature that allows technicians to view internal structure in real-time, but the cluttered interface can make this feature quite hard to find.

Journey Map

Many of the pain points lie within the attempts to validating issues in a specific work order, which causes users to be hesitant in submitting their orders for supervision.

Introducing Service and Asset Manager Redesigned; A more efficient way to handle your tasks and increase your productivity.

Results
Upon presentation of the redesign, it has been confirmed that the newest changes of the SAM application has implemented my proposed solutions from user feedback.

Moving forward, I’d love to explore across different devices such as the tablet, watch, and also the VisionPro. There are plans to add newer features to this redesign as well as exploring different solutions for different personas.
